Following is a slideshow I just created from photos sent to me by French long distance touring cyclist Regis Fender. Regis has completed another incredible journey by folding bike, circumnavigating the Polar Circle on a Strida folding bike.
According to his email from today, it was a "lonely, deep and beautiful ride". It took him 2 months to traverse the 3500 km distance (including riding to the Polar Circle from France, then riding the Circle itself). As to the bike, he reported "no problem with the Strida".
Although a Strida folding bike may not seem like an ideal bicycle for long distance touring, Regis loves his. He has written that the belt drive and simple design makes the bike very reliable. And he should know. An old hand at mind boggling adventures by Strida, Regis is the guy that rode a Strida across the Sahara Desert last year, alone and unassisted.
If you'd like to learn more about Regis' long distance bicycle tours and how he does this with a Strida, he maintains a blog. It's written in French but you can get the gist of what he's writing by using an online translator such as that provided by Google.
