2015 Montague Paratrooper folding bike

Paratrooper bicycle folded

Military Tough

The Paratrooper is one of several bikes based on the Paratrooper folding bicycle, the bike that built Montague's reputation for producing incredibly durable folding bikes. Designed with a grant from the Pentagon so troops could move in silence behind enemy lines, the Paratrooper was made to withstand the impact of being dropped by parachute (hence the name). Thus, the Paratrooper Pro is a folding mountain bike you can take on punishing slick rock trails over the weekend and pot hole pocked urban streets during the work week.

Montague's patented RackStand

Rack Stand: 6 Functions in 1

RackStand is a new concept in bicycle rack systems. It is a luggage carrier, mudguard, kickstand, and work stand all in one. It even makes folding and storing your folded bike easier. A quick release allows it to rotate under the rear wheel on a specially designed axle mount. When in the lowered position it acts as a kickstand or workstand, stabilizes your bike to make folding easier, and allows the folded bike to be stored or displayed upright.

Montague Direct Connect frame quick release

Direct Connect

Montague took the strongest folding bikes on the market and re-designed them from the ground up to provide an even better ride, an easier folding experience, and a stunning new look. The new DirectConnect folding system removes the needs for a quick release on the top tube, connects the front and rear frames with a larger latch, and automatically clicks into place when the bike is unfolded.

Montague's patented CliX quick release system

CLIX, the Simple, Fast Wheel Release

The CLIX bicycle wheel release system allows you to take your front wheel on and off faster, with greater ease. Inspired by the frequent misuse of the traditional quick release system, casual and performance minded cyclists alike can pull and replace their wheel with no guess work.

Standardized Parts

The Paratrooper rides like any hard-tail mountain bike with a suspension fork, using standard mechanical parts that are available in virtually any bike shop. When you eventually wear out a tire, brakes, etc, you'll have no problems maintaining it.

Military Frames W/Better Components

Like all Montague mountain bikes, the frame on the Paratrooper is the same as those used by the US military for close to 20 years. Made to withstand high altitude parachute drops, these frames are exceptionally sturdy and can endure riding on any surface. What sets the Paratrooper Pro apart from the Paratrooper are improved components like a lock-out fork with more travel, more gears, better derailleurs and better brakes.

How It Folds

The frame is composed of the rear triangle and a single, oversized top tube. The top tube is pressed onto the seat tube. Open a quick release and bearings within the top tube allow the front portion of the bike to swing back against the rear wheel. Remove the front wheel via the preset Clix quick release and the bike can fold to less than half its unfolded size.
