You have to buy the car to get the bike? :)

How much does it cost? When do they release it.

Daimler has not yet released pricing for their new folding bike. The bikes will be available from Daimler dealers sometime in 2008; pricing has yet to be released.

What is this all about? Who would be swayed into buying a car like this by getting a free folding bike?
There must be some reason why car manufactureres do this sort of thing and its not alove of cycling! Anyone know what it is?

Naturally, the best person to answer the "why" question would be a rep from Daimler. While we wait for one to speak up, perhaps they're marketing the bike and cabriolet concept because convertible owners like riding in the outdoors with the top down... so they figure cabrio owners are active types that like bicycling.

By the way, the idea of selling a motor vehicle and a folding bike is not new. Hummer did this several years ago, offering specially branded, yellow, Montague folding mountain bikes based on the full size Paratrooper military bike. Also, I think BMW gave this idea a stab, offering a folder with their made in the USA SUV.

Anyhow, the floor's open. What's your take on the Daimler folding bike?

Its a kind of guilt trip thing, the same reason people join expensive health clubs and don't use them.
Its cool to have a bike, and a folder as well with your classy car.
Then of course its that old carbon neutual thing, the car produces carbon emissions which are offset against someone(the driver maybe)riding miles and miles on the bike.
Another reason might be to keep up with the others, one manufacturer does it, so do the rest.
A good reason might be to introduce the buyer to a bit of exercise.
