A bicycle can help people rediscover life at a human pace
RideTHISbike exists because cycling changed my life.
Not because I became faster.
Not because I became an athlete.
Not because I won races.
Cycling changed my life because it allowed me to experience the world at a gentle human pace.
Fast enough to go somewhere.
Slow enough to notice what I was missing.
Since Hurricane Katrina, RideTHISbike has helped people discover New Orleans, rediscover their neighborhoods, spend more time outdoors, and experience the simple joy of moving through the world by bicycle.
Over the years, we have watched thousands of people discover something important. The right bike can change how a person sees their community. It can change how often they go outside. It can change how much confidence they feel. It can change how much time they spend with people they love. It can even change how they see themselves.
E-bikes are not just for people who can no longer ride
A lot of people assume e-bikes are only for older riders, injured riders, or people who are no longer able to ride a regular bicycle.
That is not true.
Many healthy, active people love e-bikes because they help them ride farther, ride more often, arrive less sweaty, and enjoy the ride more.
For some people, an e-bike makes commuting easier. For others, it makes the levee, the lakefront, the campground, the neighborhood, or the grocery store feel reachable again.
For some, it means keeping up with a spouse. For some, it means riding with children or grandchildren. For others, it simply means saying yes to fresh air, movement, sunlight, and freedom more often.
The goal is not to sell bicycles. The goal is to help people discover new ways to enjoy life.
What people are really looking for
Most people do not walk into RideTHISbike because they want technical specifications.
They come in because they want something more human.
- More activity
- More confidence
- More independence
- More exploration
- More freedom
- More time outdoors
- More enjoyment of life
A bicycle can help with all of that. An e-bike can make it easier to begin.
The people we meet every day
Every day, you'll meet people from all walks of life.
Some want to lose weight. Some want to improve their balance or stamina. Some want to explore their community, campground, or neighborhood. Others simply want to spend more time outdoors with the people they care about, their spouse, children, grandchildren, or friends.
But all are looking for a little more joy from life, and you can help them discover it.
We are looking for people who understand this
RideTHISbike is developing a second location and community presence in Kenner, Louisiana. As part of that, we are looking for a Community E-Bike Ambassador.
This is not primarily a mechanic position.
This is not a traditional retail sales position.
This is a people position.
We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, listening to their stories, encouraging them, educating them, and helping them see what might be possible.
Bicycle knowledge is helpful. Character matters more. Reliability matters more. Trustworthiness matters more. Communication matters more. Empathy matters more. A positive attitude matters more.
What a Community E-Bike Ambassador may do
This role may include helping people learn about e-bikes, encouraging test rides, participating in community events, helping with group rides, creating simple social media content, supporting local outreach, generating referrals, and helping customers choose the right bike when they are ready.
The right person does not need to know everything on day one. Training will be provided.
What matters most is that you enjoy people and believe that getting outside, moving your body, and exploring your community can make life better.
You might be a good fit if you are
- Retired or semi-retired
- A former teacher, nurse, military member, insurance professional, financial advisor, hospitality professional, tour guide, or retail manager
- An RV traveler, camper, or outdoor recreation enthusiast
- Someone who enjoys people and believes life is better when we spend more time outside
You do not need to be a hardcore cyclist. You do not need to race. You do not need to speak in bicycle jargon.
In fact, it may be better if you do not.
We are not trying to impress bike people. We are trying to help everyday people discover what bikes and e-bikes can do for their lives.
Basic requirements
- Be comfortable riding a bicycle
- Enjoy talking with people
- Enjoy helping people
- Be reliable and trustworthy
- Be willing to learn
- Communicate clearly
- Treat people with patience and respect
Compensation and work environment
Starting pay is approximately $16 per hour. Sales bonuses are available. Monthly performance bonuses may also be available.
Benefits may include a flexible schedule, an air-conditioned workplace, an employee kitchen, a private restroom, a small business environment, an employee purchase program, training, and opportunities to be involved in the local community.
You can help even if you are not local
Not everyone who reads this will live in Greater New Orleans. That is okay.
If this mission resonates with you, you can still help by inspiring someone else to ride, sharing this page with someone who would be a good fit, encouraging a friend to spend more time outside, or simply reminding people that bicycles are not just for athletes.
More people need movement, sunlight, community, confidence, and joy. You can help that happen wherever you live.

The right person may not be looking for a job. They may just be looking for something meaningful to do.
Help someone discover more joy, freedom, and confidence
RideTHISbike is about more than bikes. It is about helping people find practical, human ways to move, explore, connect, and enjoy life.
If that sounds like something worth sharing, we would love to hear from you.
