Applications Are Open

The City opened registration for the Crescent City E-Bike Program on September 28 at 9:00 a.m. Central time. Complete the required Smart E-Bike Course first, then use the registration link on the official City program page. The current closing date is October 9, 2026; see the October 2 correction above.

Applying does not guarantee a voucher. This is a limited first round, and selected applicants must complete the program steps before vouchers are issued.

Course Requirement Added as City Prepares Limited First Voucher Round

The corrected application window is September 28 through October 9; see the October 2 update above. Before applying, residents must complete the free Smart E-Bike Course linked from the official City rebate page and save the completion certificate for upload. The City has since published the registration link on its program page.

The first round is expected to be a limited pilot of approximately 100 vouchers, selected randomly after the application period. The program offers a $600 general voucher and a $1,200 income-qualified voucher. Issued vouchers are valid for 60 days, and prior purchases are not eligible.

The City originally planned approximately 3,000 vouchers. The current City page lists funding for at least 2,500 vouchers, including 1,500 for income-qualified residents.

The federal grant originally allowed five years for distribution, but approximately two years have passed during program development, leaving roughly three years. The City expects another application round in spring 2027. Future rounds are expected to be substantially larger because most funding remains to be distributed, although their dates and voucher quantities have not been finalized.

Selected customers redeeming through eBike NOLA should bring their voucher and matching photo ID to 223 Dauphine Street. The Kenner showroom is not a voucher-redemption location.

Crescent City E-Bike Program Is Moving Forward

Bottom line: Consumers should begin preparing now. The City says registration is coming soon and schedules the first rebate round for late September 2026.

Recent information from program administrator APTIM indicates that the program could begin within the next couple of weeks and no later than the end of September, provided unresolved program details do not cause a delay. This is useful preparation guidance, but it is not an announced application date.

No specific application date has been announced, and the official application-document list has not been published. Residents should not purchase an e-bike expecting reimbursement because prior purchases do not qualify.

What applicants can prepare

The final City and APTIM instructions will control. Applicants may want to locate a government photo ID, proof of New Orleans residency, current email and telephone information, and, for the income-qualified rebate, proof of SNAP or Medicaid participation or other income records. The program may also request household-size and income information. This is a preparation list, not the official checklist.

Why model eligibility remains unsettled

Louisiana law defines an electric-assisted bicycle using requirements that include operable pedals, a motor rated below 750 watts, and minimum wheel sizes. The August 27 City Council safety presentation discussed legal e-bike definitions and a proposed 15 mph operating speed on shared paths, but it did not publish final rebate-model eligibility. A shared-path operating recommendation is separate from the assisted-speed limits defining Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes.
