The Brompton H6R is a 6 speed Brompton outfitted with rain fenders, a rear carry rack and H Type handlebars, which are similar to the M Type bars but are taller (in fact, the tallest offered). For the most upright, comfortable ride, this is the choice.
6 Speed Drive
The 6 speed drive mates the low maintenance 3 speed Sturmey Archer internally geared hub with a simple yet effective Brompton external derailleur and 2 rear cogs. This combination offers a wider variety of gears; yet, lowers the drivetrain's weight and keeps the derailleur well off the ground (away from debris).
Other Notable Features
This H6R is finished in raw lacquer and outfitted with a brown leather Brooks B17 saddle, firm rear suspension block, a Brompton kevlar tires, a luggage block on the head tube (below the handlebar stem), Folding Basket luggage and Eazy Wheels for transport when folded.
Brooks B17 Leather Saddle
In production for over 110 years, the B17 saddle is the epitome of fine Brittish craftsmanship. Truly unique and loved by touring cyclists worldwide, the saddle is known for conforming to the rider's body after 100 miles of use, becoming more comfortable. If the saddle sags with age, a slight turn of a wrench retunes it. Finished with hand-hammered copper rivets, copper plated metalwork and fitted with Brompton's Pentaclip for stepless adjustment, this is the most refined saddle you'll ever own.
Luggage Block
The luggage block is a superior way to carrying items on your bike. Rather than mounting a basket to the handlebars (which tends to throw off your balance when turning), the luggage block allows you to mount luggage directly to the frame on the head tube just above the front wheel. Since the head tube does not turn when you turn the handlebars, luggage mounted to this block will always remain directly in front of the Brompton. The luggage block also lowers the height of the load you are carrying, lowering your center of gravity. These 2 unique factors result in a more stable ride and better performance.
Folding Basket
Brompton's simplest luggage, the Folding Basket is a large, open topped container that folds flat when not in use. Ideal for shopping, the basket's shape is maintained by a simple bracing frame. The basket attaches securely to the bracing frame via a series of large velcro straps (making the basket easy to remove or clean). The bracing frame attaches to the Brompton's Luggage Block and can be used with to brace a variety of styles of Brompton luggage. The Folding Basket has two nylon carry straps, a carry capacity of 24 liters, measures 420 cm wide x 300 cm high x 280 cm deep and can be used on all Bromptons except those with S Type handlebars.
Eazy Wheels
Eazy Wheels are soft rubber roller wheels which roll more readily and last longer than the standard issue hard plastic roller wheels that Brompton offers for no additional charge. Eazy Wheels are ideal for commuting as they make the bikes roll with less friction when folded, allowing you to pull your Brompton through the halls of your office, apartment building, university, transit station, etc. with ease. Since the "R" type has a rear rack, 4 Eazy Wheels are fitted, making the bike even more stable when rolled about folded.
