Eco Adventure Getaway To New Mexico For The Weekend Of May 12th

In the event that anyone is interested in a soft eco adventure getaway, I'm heading to New Mexico for the weekend of May 12th to mountain bike the ancient Anasazi track from Acama to the famed Zuni pueblo as well as cycle the asphalt rim trail overlooking Canyon de Chelly. Other highlights will include watching native American jewelry & rug craftsmen at work & shopping their wares, hiking the lava beds of El Malpais and soaking in the surreal, rugged scenery of the region.

Accomodations will be in the beautiful Cibola National Forest at the Zuni Mountain Lodge. Lodging is just $95/nt/couple including gourmet breakfast, dinner & cocktails. Please note that the lodge only has 6 rooms total so it's important that anyone interested in this trip let me know soon.

All my best,

Heading Back To New Orleans

My wife & I trekked back to New Orleans so family could see our 2 month new infant (as well as to take care of hurricane repairs and enjoy Mardi Gras). While down there, I was able to have the main roof to our home replaced. Also, I met with a variety of construction contractors for other repairs but much still needs to be done.

Driving back to Memphis from New Orleans, we realized that the logistics of managing home repairs from Memphis were proving virtually impossible. To speed the repair process, we're returning to New Orleans to complete the repairs and put the hurricane behind us once and for all.

Despite deep ties and an abiding love for the Big Easy, the future and direction of our beloved New Orleans remains uncertain. We find ourselves questioning the logic of raising a family in a place that risks inundation & destruction annually. No place is completely safe; yet, there are other factors to consider. Even if New Orleans is rebuilt, the process will take several years. Also, the jury's still out whether the nation is willing to take the financial steps needed to rebuild the region.

Thanks to all of you for your support and prayers during this difficult point in our lives.

All my best,
Larry Lagarde
